How can I tell if this stranger is interested in me?

He works in a store and I'm pretty sure I've seen him staring at me before. He asked if I needed any help and that day I had and afterward he told me a joke. Once when I was in the store with my mother we were not near his section but still in that same area and he called out to me and nobody else if I needed help and he still does that almost every time I go in. My mom thought he was interested in me but I can't tell if he's just being friendly and I'm over reacting or he is actually interested but also really shy?

he's interested...i mean, he works at the store and only asks you if you need help with something... if he's just nice to you like you said, then he should've offered the others if they need help too right?
maybe he's worried that you might think he's coming on to you and you're not interested... and maybe he's a tad shy...
