how can my son avoid testifying about a fight where the state picked up the charges?

charges were pressed against another boy over a fight that involved my son. the state picked up the charges. now the prosectors's office wants to talk to my son. i don't want to get involved. these people are crazy. i don't want to always be looking over my shoulder and worry about my kids while they are out playing. to me it was a boyish fight. what do i do?
