How can you increase your internet speed?

i was trying to increase internet speed and i had it at 1300kbps orignally then i made it 2000kbps then i used lvllords patch thing and then the tcp thing then it made it lower to 1000 then it just fluxuates now...or somethng

how can i get connection speeds like 20000kbps or atleast 3-4k???

anyone
changing it back didnt increase it either .... also i have windows xp home edition not professioanl
my internet thing is hitin 400kbps i just checked using speedtest.net
and if you read the question you would know i already got tcp optimizer

hi here are some tips to increase your speed
Configure your browser so it won't display graphics, animations, sound, video .
Surf when Internet traffic is low. Heaviest traffic is usually on weekends and evenings.
Upgrade your modem.
Consult with your Internet service provider to ensure that your modem is configured correctly.
Replace your telephone modem with a fast-access connection such as wave, ISDN, DSL, satellite, a cable modem.
