how can you save your own ringtones on an LG vortex?

I'm getting so frustrated. love the phone, but on my old phone i'd send myself the audio and then save as ringtone. what do i do on the vortex?!?
 
If its anything like the optimus v (which is a "cousin" if it) you should be able to save it to the SD card and use the media player and click menu the set as ringtone. you can also use full length songs this way
