Here's just one example. In Luke 14:33, Jesus says, "none of you can be my disciples if you do not give up all your own possessions."
I don't see many Christians actually doing what Jesus requests. Why is that?
Yeah, you can use the old "taken out of context" cop-out although if you read the surrounding text it doesn't change the meaning of the passage. Besides, Jesus is extremely explicit in this passage. It's not like you can interpret this in multiple ways. And this is in the Gospels, so you can't just ignore it out of hand like you guys like to do with anything that you don't like in the Old Testament.
