I just watched it on tivo in slow motion and he only took 2 steps, how was that even a travel? can someone explain this to me.

First of all he was fouled so the possibility of traveling may occur..but since he didnt travel and no foul was called, the officiating crew made a mistake n should be fined by the NBA

Right now it doesn't matter if it was a real "travel" or not...

Because the biggest mistake was not call 1 of the 2 time-out and "think" the "best play" for that kind of situation.

But anyway, it was only a game...

a back-to-back game and without 3 players (Jordy, Sasha, Walton)

That's traveling......

Are you kidding? He basically ran towards the basket. He took a 3rd step to the hoop with out dribbling. Easy call.

I was told from someone who wanted the Lakers to win that Ariza did take 3 steps .
I analyzed this video too:

it looks like he traveled because the held the ball when stepping with his right foot and then he took another 1, 2 with the left and right foot respectively. the vid is not very great quality and you don't get much of a close up so I could be wrong.

Oh, come on. That was a blatant travel. Don't tell me that you are buying into Lebron's crab dribble talk. It was a travel and I do see guys get away with the same move on a nightly basis. Based on this I see your arguement. They should really just call it one way which I know is extremely difficult. The fact of the matter is that by definition he traveled so you have no gripe.

Big money was laid on the Lakers ML, the books could not allow that.

He didnt travel bad call BUT he had no business with the ball in his hands with the game on the line. Kobe i love you but next time drive to the basket and draw the foul before they trap you.

he took a hop and then 2 steps instead of giving the ball up, or shooting a wide open jumper, he shouldnt have driven to the lane against 3 guys.
