I just got an unlocked 16GB Iphone 3Gs in a reputable electronics shop here in UAE without the need of getting a new Etisalat SIM card.
The device is unlocked and it works perfectly well with my old Etisalat SIM card (post paid). Actually I am able to use the 3G services.
Since I don't see any "extra" icon on the phone's menu (Cydia-like) I cannot tell whether it has been unlocked or if it came unlocked straight from the factory. How can I spot the difference?
If I go for the 3.1 upgrade from iTunes will I get a brick?
