I have several questions about developing iPhone and Android apps for anyone that could answer. I have a novice-intermediate Computer Science background, with all of my programming experience being in php, javascript, and c++.
Here are my questions:
1. What programs and languages are ESSENTIAL (Necessary) for developing for iPhone? Which programs and languages can be HELPFUL (Advanced)?
2. What programs and languages are ESSENTIAL (Necessary) for developing for Android? Which programs and languages can be HELPFUL (Advanced)?
3. Do either iPhone or Android apps easily port to another mobile platform such as Blackberry, Windows Mobile, WebOS, etc.? If so, please specify.
4. Please disregard if this was answered in #1 or #2, how can I test my apps without buying an iPhone and Android device?
(currently, I own a Windows Mobile <puke> device.. I am tempted to go grab an EVO4G or an iPhone4, but a large part of me wants to wait for Verizon to release their LTE 4G and get an Android device that uses that network... I'm torn...I think I'm going to stick with my Omnia for a little while longer)...
5. Recommended reading (online or print)?
Thanks!
