it is a video file and i want to know how i can change the extension from .divx to .wmv

Right, changing the extension doesn't change the contents of the file. Both of the file types you specified have different encoding schemes (if thats what they call it).
If you desire to convert the file format you require a video converter.

semi.pro's answer is absolutely incorrect. If you change the file extension from .divx to wma, etc, the player will read the file as corrupted, thus it will not play. The best solution is to download a program that will convert video files into different formats.
