I called in sick on Friday (l was sick) and then worked sat. and sunday...but had to call in Monday again because I was getting worse...I toughed it out on the weekend working because the salon I work in is crazy on the weekends and I didn't want to leave them really understaffed...When I called on Monday my manager suggested I get a doc's note...I was going to the doc's anyways so it wasn't a huge deal to get one for her. When I brought the note in on Tuesday she was making comments to other employees that "no one wants to work around here anymore" and etc. It made me feel horrible because even Tuesday @ work...anyone with a brain could see I was sick still...so why would she make me feel bad for calling in...I never call in sick unless I'm actually sick and I always have a doc's note for her when I come back to work so she knows I've seen a doc. How should I handle this?

I think I would pull her aside and say something to the effect of:
Listen, I know we are short staffed right now and I am making every effort to come into work whenever humanly possibly, but you have to understand that I was very sick, hence the dr. note, and I thought it would be better for me and for everyone here to try to get a little better before coming in. I still am not well, but I'm making every effort. I didn't want to pass things on to you guys or the customers, but I'm making every effort to be at work as you can see from the fact that I hardly ever call in sick.

I think if you are just straight with her that you don't really appreciate the comments directed around you and that she can just talk to you if there is a problem that would go a long way.
