my nail got crushed in a car door about 7 months ago and it broke right down close to the root. it began to grow out and the broken part eventually fell off, leaving a funny nail behind. the trouble is that by finger itself( not the nail) has changed shape and the nail has stayed the same shape. This has cause one side of the nail to become fused to my finger, and now i have an ingrown fingernail on one side. it is incredibly painful at times and makes it hard for me to type or play piano. What should i do? it has gotten infected once but i managed to clear it up.
