My boyfriend and I adopted a kitten from a shelter, we picked him up last tuesday (Feb 3). We had to wait 14 days before we could get him because he had pink eye and a mild URI. Finally he was cleared to go home so we picked him up and had a vet appt. for him and our other kitten the next day. When we took him there he had an ear infection, mild eye infection, unclear lung, and an umbilical hernia (this cant be fixed till he is 5 lbs I guess). We began washing his ears and giving him drops and then giving him eye ointment. On Friday night he was having a hard time breathing so we bought him into another vet for an emergency appointment. They told us he also had a bad URI and gave us Zithromax in pre measured dosages, they are in syringes. They said for one of us to hold him by the scruff while the other sticks the syringe in his mouth and slowly pushes the medicine in. We are sticking it on the side of his teeth which is what they showed us. Today was the second time we had to do it ourselves and when we do he gags and spits it out and tries to turn his head every which way no matter how hard we hold him. What can we do to make this easier on all of us?
