I have downloaded a bunch of half-hour xvid files from the internet that I would like to import into Windows Movie Maker. It recognizes it as audio only and therefore wants to put it in the audio track only! I have converted two of them into .wmv files, which took many hours for both, and I still have 6 more to convert. I don't want to convert them because it is sooooo time consuming. I would like to import them directly into Windows Movie Maker. I have tried the original Xvid codec and ffdshow, and it didn't even play in Windows Media Player. I tried the Vista Codec Package, and this time it plays in Windows Media Player, but all three had the same result as before with Windows Movie Maker. I also noticed that under Tools, Options, and Compatibility, the only video filter listed is "AVI Decompressor", and it is checked. I am reaching the end of my rope. Can anyone of you please help me import these video files into Windows Movie Maker? Thanks to everyone who had replied so far. If I was to use a converter, I would like the following to be true: 1. It must convert video fast. 2. It must be free. (Shareware doesn't cut it.) I hope there is one out there like that.
