How do I prepare myself for a current affairs quiz in less than a week?

Watch as much National and International news as you can, and take notes of names and places. Good luck.

You could do a scan of news sites like the BBC or CNN and try and remember the main outlines of issues like the Middle East, the Presidency, the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and a few others of your own choice. Commit to mind the names of the main characters in these issues.
Do it in a relaxed fashion or you won't remember a thing.
If you have good memory retention it might help.
The best method is to cultivate an interest in world affairs all the time anyway.
