How do I send an instant messge to someone with a blackberry?

I do not have a Blackberry device but, I have windows live messenger, skype and yahoo messenger.
 
They need to download software that allows them to sign on. Certain carriers block this functionality, so it depends. If you message me with your friends Blackberry model and carrier I can tell you which to have them get.
