How do i use DivX to convert media files?

I don't get how you convert files using Divx!

For example, I have a Realplayer file that I want to use with Windows Movie Maker, But as you would guess, WMM can't play it.

i want a step by step, Dummy's Guide to converting files using DivX, if anyone could help that'd be great!!!
(Ps im using windows vista)
