How do we know re-encornation is possible/real?

I know I spelled it wrong, but this is just a thought that came to mind, if it was real wouldn't we remember our past life's since we got reincarnated? I'm learning Buddhism in school and I think it's interesting

Those who believe in reincarnation certainly should remember their past life living as a cockroach .I mean its not easy having to constantly watch out for shoes.Christians do not believe in reincarnation because it is a refutation of their central belief that we are saved once by the grace,love and forgiveness of Christ,not by a multiple year self work-out plan.
