How do you BUILD a basketball hoop?

So i'm trying to make a basketball hoop my own to hang above my garage. can someone PLEASE help teach me in detail from backboard to hanging it up on the garage for me? i'm teaching my 10 year old son and i don't want to disappoint so please make it sturdy too.

put a piece of wood behind a ring of metal or whatever they r made out of
