how do you do a handset wipe on the blackberry storm?

I have to wipe my storm so i can set it up for e-mail, long story....I can get into the part where it says wipe handset, and type in the password, which I do, but then it won't let me do anything else, if I press the blackberry button, nowt happens!!!! grrrrr!! Help!! A frustrated Blackberry Storm owner!!!
