we have been watching an LCD tv with digital freeview build in, it's connected straight into the wall to our outdoor ariel, we suddenly can't get a picture at all, it keeps saying 'no signal check ariel' we tried searching for normal 1-4 channels on our other tv aswell just to check it was definitely the ariel with the prob and not the tv but it won't pick up anything on any of our tvs any more.
Our areal isn't on the roof it is build into the wall of the house at ground level which picks up the picture from a main antenna on a big hill not to far away, so we can access our ariel easily by unscrewing the plate on the side of the house outside but what are we meant to be looking for? how do we know if it's broken? we have no idea what to do.
Thanks.

You usually get this message because the aerial is unplugged or the cable has broken. Try replacing the flylead between the set and the wall socket (that's the easiest and cheapest bit to mend). If that's not the problem, the next most likely fault is where the cable is joined to the aerial - and that involves ladders on the roof. The aerial itself is unlikely to go wrong.
