How do you motivate yourself to continue writing?

I love writing short stories and even longer ones but I always give up. Whats the best way to keep going? I dont necessarily want to be an author but I'd love to have the sense of achievement of completing one.

I have absolutely no discipline in my writing - I write when I'm motivated. Therefore, I don't overly worry when I shut off for a while, 'cause I know I'll get back to it, and there's no use trying to force myself, since it doesn't turn out right. It's part of being a Gemini, I guess.
 
Write a shorter story. You could manage a completed 500 word story, surely?

Start small and work up. Writing beginning, middle, end is a skill in its own right and is significantly more difficult than writing "and then" soap opera.
