How do you start talking to a stranger/introduce yourself? is it okay if I just say "what's your name?" and then shake their hand and tell them my name? how do you do it?
Before asking for the stranger's name, how about "Hello, how do you do?" (or similar lines) Talk about something related to the place you're at. When you feel comfortable then say, "By the way, my name is Foe. What's yours?". Shake hands and say "Nice meeting you".
