I already have knowledge on how to create and maintain the purity of an altar, and I know prayers to Ares as well as Aphrodite, But I am still curious about the little details, such as, what IS the altar, exactly? I just know how to bless an altar in the name of Ares, just not what it should look like, I also want to know if it would be sacrilege to bless water myself, seeing as I have no right. I also need suggestions on sacrifices, since Ares usually received prisoners of war as sacrifice, and that is not entirely acceptable in today's society.

Well basically, the Greek gods just wanted their followers to indulge in what they represent. In fact, they would get very angry if people did not.

There's the story of Myrrha, who scorned love, and it offended Aphrodite, so she punished her by making her lust for her own father.

The Bacchae tells the story of King Pentheus, who banned his people from drinking wine and partying, thus offending Dionysus, who made all of the women of Thebes--including Pentheus' wife and mother--go crazy and tear him apart.

So, basically, you should just practice whatever it is that the god in question represents, and think about that god and thank them while you are doing the activity.

Ares... maybe you should join the army. That would probably be your only access to war. Or you can just go around picking fights and beating people up, though your ass will probably just end up in jail if you do that...

Dionysus would be the best, I think. All you have to do is eat, drink, and be merry. :)
