How is this as an introduction to an essay about Fahrenheit 451?
Okay so my thesis is " by trying to make everyone in the society equal, it in turn causes chaos and rebellion; with people with different intelligences, it is impossible to have an equal society."
so tell me what you think about this introduction:
Fahrenheit 451 – Differences in Intelligences
According to the theory of multiple intelligences, first purposed by Howard Gardner in his book, Frames of Mind, in 1983, there is more than one type of intelligence found in people. Using seven different intelligences, Gardner’s concept reasons that intelligence, as it is conventionally depicted, does not sufficiently show the extensive diversity of abilities that humans are able to exhibit and use. The characters in Ray Bradbury’s, Fahrenheit 451, shows the readers how people of one society can exhibit different types of intelligences. Through logical intelligence individuals can be taught so that they are equal, such as Black the fireman and Mildred Montag. However in the course of interpersonal intelligence, or social intelligence, people cannot be taught that. Since it must be learned by themselves, it is impossible to make people equal in this way. Without social intelligence, it is quite impossible for one to reach a level of intrapersonal intelligence , also known as emotional intelligence, that allows them to understand oneself, to appreciate one's feelings, fears and motivations. Clarisse McClellan is the embodiment of all these intelligences found in only one person. She is a fascinating character, as she demonstrates how through logical intelligence, interpersonal intelligence, and intrapersonal intelligence individuals are dissimilar and can not be controlled by the others to be made equal. In contrast, Mildred Montag was taught only a low level logical intelligence, which did not allow her to question things. This resulted in her never developing her social or emotional intelligence. By trying to make everyone in the society equal, it in turn causes chaos and rebellion; with people that have different intelligences, it is impossible to have an equal society.
just your thoughts , such as : too long?
something i should change?
something i should leave out?
something i should add?
does it flow ?
how can i make it better?
and anything else you think would b important
