how long do you leave your dog in its crate during the day?

and do you do anything special for it....like leave the tv on or music? make sure that they have toys and things.
i always feel so sorry for her...like she is in doggy jail...
 
good that you feel sorry since you should. That is no way to treat a dog. They are pack animals and need to be with people. If you cannot be with your dog, give it to someone who can.
 
I had one dog I used to crate until he became trustworthy in the house. Never leave them longer than 6 hours or so. All of mine are crate trained to accept one and go to the vets or stay in hotels, but at home they get to stay in a room made up just for them! Tile floors, papers, dog beds etc. Nothing they get into trouble with. While I'm gone all day, they have everything they need (food and water too) and are comfortable, safe and so is my house.
