Are doctors in the US required to take nutrition classes and, if so, how many credit hours are required?

No, nutrition is not normally a required subject for physicians in the U.S., but there are some specialties (bariatrics and sports medicine, for example) in which doctors probably do study it.

Nutrition, as a professional specialty, is the province of dieticians here. That's a separate field, though dieticians may work with physicians.
