how many hours of sleep are you suppose to get when trying to build muscle?

i'm trying to find out why i'm not gaining a point of muscle in a week and i was wondering if i'm getting enough sleep at night. i sleep for about 6 to 7 hours but mostley six hours of sleep. what tips can you give me to help me with my muscle reparing itself.
