How many types of cartoon animation styles are there?

Different imaginations envision the world differently. Both in realism and fictionalisim you can lean towards either or create your own mix that seems right for you. There are uncountable amounts of art forms out there simple because of how many different imaginations there are.

Hi I am trying to find out how many animation styles out are out there?,
I know there is manga and also retro-style, but what others is there what style is blinky bill or tabaluga or lapuka.

I was wondering also why is anime cartoons like steamboy and whisper of the heart so emotional?, Is it because of the music? or the type of story's they use?

Any help is greatly appreciated,
