How much should a 2002 Suzuki SV650 cost?

I found this 2002 Suzuki SV650 that I want to buy which should be in good condition. He is putting it up for $2800. Clean title with 20,000 miles on it. It has a couple scratches and he dropped it once or twice but everything looks solid. No cracks, and this will be my first bike! So I was just wondering if that would be a good price for the bike, or should I negotiate it down more? Thanks!
 
take the bike for a ride before you part with your cash...


even low speed crashes can twist the head stem.. just because it looks straight doesn't mean it is..

when the bike starts shaking its head at 50+ MPH.. the great price wont look anywhere near as good..
