I have a 2.0 turbo diesel due up for mot in 6 weeks time, few issues with it and wondering if it will be worthwhile getting it fixed or will be better scrapping it. I've listed the main problems below.
Oil light comes on when i put the handbrake on.
Grinding metal against metal noise from front or back passenger tires (brake pads?).
Middle part of exhaust has a tear along it.
If the brake pads need replacing will i be able to wait out the 6 weeks or will this cause even more damage? I'm just unwilling to spend anything on it just now when I might just end up having to scrap it anyway. I believe my local mechanic charges in the region of £25 per hr for labour. Can anyone give me a rough idea how much these repairs would cost?
