how old do you have to be to be a writer?

hi im 12 ive been writing to my teachers and friends and family for a couple years but i looked online and i cant find ANYONE who will publish me cause im younger than 18. I REALLLY wanna get published and im trying as hard as i can i write a little bit of songs, i write drama or fiction or anything to do with teens and high school idk why its fun. please help i live in tulsa oklahoma and i really want some help <3 thanks
 
You just have to be able to hold a pen or a pencil and you can be a writer. Google "writing contests for youth" find one you like, enter it, see what happens. Best of luck, don't give up.
 
There's no age limit. I seem to recall that the youngest published author was four.
 
Just have a good plot, you can be ANY age. There's some by kid authors, for example, Mattie Stepanek wrote several books of poetry when he was only 12. The author of Eragon, Christopher Paolini, was only 15 when he wrote the book. So yes, anybody can write.
