Hi, I am a 21 year old university student. I am not an english major unfortunately..... But I don feel as if I have a way with words and a sort of creativity that most people lack. I wish to write a first novel. The only thing I would consider dedicating so much time to write would be either science fiction or fantasy. These are the genres that I love. I just want to know, If I wrote a full length novel. How could I get a publishing company to even look at it. Also, please let me know how often I should practice writing per dium/ read every day. Oh yeah, and how the heck do you write future sci fi. It just seems hard to write believable future technology. Urrgghghhghg. Please Help!!!

Hi. I have an idea for how you could get exposure. http://www.writersofthefuture.com/ does a quarterly sci-fi contest. You would be judged by accomplished authors. Perhaps that could be a launching point for you?
I write, too, and I find that the more I write the better I get. So I think you should write as much as possible - definitely try to write something every day! I'm actually beginning a sci-fi story right now, and how I got my idea was just to dream about "what if..." And if you're looking for "believable future technology," why don't you think of what you would like to have invented in the future?
Just some ideas.
Good luck!
