No need for a gadget for shortcuts on the bottom. Just right click the taskbar (bottom bar) by the start button and choose toolbars, Quick Launch. Now all you have to do is drag and drop shortcuts to folders and websites and whatever else you want to the quick launch bar.
Favorite and bookmark are the same thing.
From what I can tell, all you have to do is drag and drop shortcuts to websites to what looks like the links bar. The little symbol next to the http:// in the address bar, grab that and drag it to the links bar directly below the address box and there you have a shortcut.
Same thing I do for internet explorer, drag and drop most commonly used shortcuts to the links bar that way they are right in front of me at all times.
