How to burn divx movie?

I downloaded a file from joox.net and Im pretty sure its a divx file it shows up like its some sort of data file and it plays in VLC media player but nothing else but my question is how do I burn it to a dvd? What program do I need? Or am I going tohave to first convert it to something else? Any help would be great.
