how to convert an avi or divx file to play on itunes?

All of my movie files have the avi extension, I play them on DivX, but I want to import them to my iTunes library and it seems they are not compatible, they are also incompatible with QuickTimes, what program or application can convert an avi file to a mov (Mac Extension) file extension? I must ad I use iTunes on a Windows Vista platform.
