Usually to get the Internet on my laptop I plug the USB cable into the back of the router (the desktop takes the Ethernet), so I have to be beside the router to get my desktops Internet on my laptop- so I cant use it in another room!!! This is my question. My laptop has wireless network built in - its an acer aspire 3690 so is there away to set up a network so the laptop could use my desktops wired router connection wirelessly? Basically, I want my to get the Internet on my laptop, I would like the laptop to use or share my desktops wired connection wirelessly. Is the only option to buy a wireless router for the laptop. Im asking this question to find out if theres a way without buying one- setting up network between them so laptop could use or share the wired connection of my desktop. They are both XP. Id love if I the laptop could be able to use the printer of my desktop as well- basically the laptop to use the wired Internet and printer of my desktop wirelessly. Sorry if I'm not a good explainer but hopefully someone who knows a lot about this will give me options.
