Me and some friends are going up to canada for a vacation in a couple weeks. All of us are 18 or 19 except for this 1 girl who is 17. Does one of her parents need to be along to get her over legally? Or Does she just need a birth certificate and a i.d. like the rest of us?

I "found" this info-----Yes you will need a passport to re-enter the US, but beginning in 2007 you will need one to get in if your are flying and in 2008 you will need one to get in by car or train. For more official information you should contact the State Department.

She will need a photo I.D. and birth certificate like everyone else. Also , a responsible person over 18 must have a letter of permission from HER parents, signed by BOTH and notarized, giving permission for her to be taken out of the U.S. and into Canada.
