I am on maternity leave right now and am looking around the house at all the space I don't have and all the junk I do. I would like to have a garage sale but am unsure of how to price everything. Does anyone have any suggestions?
don't put prices on them, when someone asks how much something costs say it costs 10$ but I'll sell it to you for $5. It works really well because people think they're getting a bargain and they feel special even if what you're selling is really worth 25 cents. Another good thing to do is have big box with a price tag of like $1 and throw in a bunch of junk for people to go through. Make sure you don't over price anything, prices under 5 dollars are the best and keep furniture under $25.
Unfortunately you have to price them cheaply!!!! People come to garage sales looking for a good deal - they don't like to pay more than a couple of bucks.
If you have larger items that you want to sell for a good price check out your local classifieds or a site like ebay, Craig's List or Kijiji. You'll probably get a better return on your stuff!!!
I don't buy anything anymore without asking myself, "How much will I someday sell this for in a garage sale?"
