I have a Westell 327W wireless modem. I just got a laptop from a friend that has a built in wireless card. I grabbed a signal in my house once from an unsecured network and it worked great but that signal isn't always there. When i refresh the lists of networks There are two secured networks. One of which I know is someone else's because it is named and once that is a bunch of numbers and letters. That one has the highest signal strength. What I want to know is, if that one is mine how do I reset the password for the wireless network because I never set one up or even created a password for anything. Secondly, if that is not my signal, is there something I am supposed to do to get my modem to start sending a signal out? Please help! Thanks!

Check the manual for your router. There should be a way to reset it to the factory defaults. There may be a button on the back where you need to use a paper clip to push it. With the router off push and hold and turn on the router. Hold for maybe 15 seconds and that may reset it to factory defaults. If it is a Linksys the default ip is 192.168.1.1 and the user name is admin and the password is blank. Put the ip address in your browsers address bar to get to the logon page. If not a Linksys check your brands manual.
