How to teach our puppy to listen to me and not just the "man of the house"? 10
POINTS!? About a week and a half ago we adopted a 6-9 (approx) week old Pit Bull puppy to save it from going to the shelter and being put down. We started right away teaching her to go outside to use the bathroom, not to chew on the furniture, etc. She's a quick learner. She already knows the basics that I just mentioned. When my boyfriend is around she listens well--she'll quit whatever it is that we tell her to quit, she goes outside to potty, etc. But, when my boyfriend isn't around, she a whole other dog completely. She will not listen to me at all and rebels as much as she can. For instance, I just took her outside so she could do her "business" and we were out there for at least 20 minutes. The whole time we were outside she laid and rolled around in the grass. Thinking she didn't need to "go" (because she usually goes when we put her down in the grass--she's learned that being brought outside mean "do your stuff"), I brought her back inside. As SOON as she walked in the door, she squatted and peed, right in front of me. How do I get her to listen and obey me the same way she does for my boyfriend...and the way she does when he's around (because if he's here, she listens to me. If he's not here, she doesn't.)?
Thanks in advance. 10 POINTS to the MOST HELPFUL answer.
