Lots of phones nowadays come out of the box with some features disabled, and it’s a simple matter of a little tweaking to activate them. Still, why would anyone intentionally limit the amount of RAM—that piece of hardware that makes high-end phones faster and thus easier to use—available to its users? Case in point: the HTC HD2, which has 576 MB of RAM built-in, but only 448 MB of that available by default. Adventurous users will have to install “some custom ROMS” to free up the hidden memory.
