I am a guitarist in a band and I write a lot of the music the songs are based off. Most of my songs sound like a mix of Velvet Underground, Hendrix, and a bit of The Strokes. However, the singer says he want songs that have a harder sound, he listens to crappy modern rock (Papa Roach is one name I remember him saying). I showed him a lot of classic rock and he isn't fond of it. How do I write songs that sound harder, but still keep that experimental/classic rock feel? Any new bands that have a sound like that?
