I have a light switch about 20ft away from me. Everytime someone rings the doorbell to a complex of 1000 resients I have to check the cameras at my desk then walk over to flip the switch up and down in order to unlock the door for 10 seconds. More importantly is having to get up around 500 times a night to flip a switch. I am hoping that someone has had the same problem, and I could be guided to a proper solution. I was thinking that I might make a simple electric motor somehow that would allow me to press a button which would send a signal across a wire to the device on the wall where the light switch is located. The device would only have to move up and down, and I would imagine I could power such little movement with a battery, a few copper wires, and a few other parts purchased from Lowers or Home Depot. Any ideas on how to solve this problem? Alternative suggestions are welcomed.
I would like to put an emphasis on the need for something that physically moves the light switch up and down.
