How would you react if someone spread rumors about you?

I know this person who keeps spreading rumors about me, and she happens to be my ex's sister. I dont know what she says, but people come to me saying that she said some thing about me. The problem is that I don't want anybody believing all these lies and looking at me in a different light. She could've told lots of people. It also makes me worry bout what people think or say. How would you guys react to something like this?
 
Honestly, don't confront her. The worst thing you can do is to confront her because that only makes things worse. Take action! If someone comes up to you to ask about it, then just tell them the truth. If they don't believe you then forget about them! Just know that you will have true friends who don't believe in lies. I would be mad, but I look at it this way, I just give people a topic to talk about. I must be that important in their pathetic little lives. I used to have very low self-estem until someone gave me that advice.
