Hubby waking up seeing disturbing images .. please help.?

I really hope you can help me with this. My husband for several months has had distubed sleep waking up to images of shadows, lights etc and can't make them stop only by going downstairs, watching TV with the lights on. Lately these images have changed to him seeing me, his wife, sleeping with numerous men, marrying somebody else, doing dodgy deals with men etc etc. These are obviously very upsetting to my husband and are now impacting on our day to day life as I believe he is seeing this as some kind of sign and is very 'off' with me the following day after a night of these images. I am so worried that he could have something mentally/physically wrong with him, i dont know how to help him. Please note I have never nor never would cheat on my hubby or given him reason to believe this, we are in a loving, committed marriage with two small children. Please help this is beginning to ruin our lives.
