Hunting uses for Ted Williams shotgun? (Winchester 1200)?

My dad is going to give me one of his old shotguns, a Ted Williams shotgun, which research is saying is probably made by Winchester, similar to their Winchester 1200. It's a pump with 2 3/4 chamber. The barrel and gun over all is quite long. I think overall length is close to 50 inches, but can't remember for sure. It also has an adjustable choke at the end, with full, modified, and cylinder as the options, with a couple of other choices in between. I imagine this is a bird gun, but could it be used for other things? Could it use buckshot or slugs? I know competitors use over-unders, but for fun, could I use it for skeet or trap shooting? I'm going to take a gun safety course, but thought some of you could give me some good info on this.
I didn't know they would care. Guess I better find out more about that before I go.

The Ted Williams 200 is the same gun as the Winchester 1200. A very good and over looked gun. It can be used for anything a Rem. 870 or a Mossberg 500 can be used for, examples: squirrel, rabbit, fox, coyote, turkey, pheasant, deer and bear. This gun will give you many years of service if taken proper care of. It is well made and dependable. Good luck and happy hunting.

You could use it for hunting ground critters, but the long barrel could get tangled in the underbrush. Should you decide to use slugs or buckshot, set the choke to "cylinder." You might be able to use it on a trap/skeet range, if the range supervisor doesn't run you off first.
