...captured in North Korea considring? (ran out of letters for the e in considering)
Considering the torture the US has done on the innocent prisoners in Guantanamo? The US tortured and killed many of the innocent prisoners they had randomly picked up (all within a few hours in one day from random villages in Afghanistan just so they could come home and say we won, we captured the terrorists). They did the waterboarding, blasted music, made them eat their feces and burn their koran and made them watch porn agains thteir religion and a lot of other gross stuff i won't even write.
Contrast with that, Lisa nad Laura Ling are on Larry King (after they broke a law by entering N. Korea illegally as much as they want to sugar coat it. Had they gotten away they'd be like haha we duped them and now look at the footage we took). So they're on Larry King talking about how the first few days they didn't have running water before being transferred to another facility where they had their own rooms, beds, attached baths and running water, nice meals etc. Boo hoo 41 days vs. 10 years of TORTURE in Guantanamo.
And then they're complaining they had a suspicion the letters they were writing and receiving from their families was being read by the Korean gov (gasp, you don't say) and they were listening in on their phone conversations. Have the prisoners in Guantanamo even been allowed to write or call home? Seriously it's pissing me off.
AFTER imprisoning and torturing an innocent person for 10 years, no I don't think they should be anywhere near me. Yup, we're doing a good job at CREATING terrorists (in case it hasn't sunk into some people's heads yet).
More than 10 Guantanamo prisoners have died from heart attacks during waterboarding alone. If you guys don't read outside of YA it's not my job to convince you of the info available (try wiki etc. if you don't know how to search).
Alan and Kondike - you make valid points as far as they're not responsible for what goes on in Gitmo, but I think my question or anger is geared more towards the bigger picture and their silence on Gitmo which to me says they're ok with others being tortured/captured when after suffering a small fraction of it themselves they if anyone should be outraged at Gitmo and at the least mentioning it instead of absorbed only in their own 41 days.
