Ok, we just got back from the 15K scheduled maintnance on our 2006 Hyunda Sonata (3.3L v6 engine) and I have a few questions about what they did. The best answer we got from the dealer is "it's just the itomization of what's required for that engine".

Here's what it says:
15000 mile service ($195.00 plus tax) - 925
H15M6 Hyundai 15000 mile interval service
925 cph ($153.76)
1 H26320-3C100 service ki ($6.85)
1 H21513-23001 Gasket-Oil ($1.04)
6 5W20 oil ($2.50)
1 H00232-19007 Carburetor ($8.35)
13101 Performed 15K service 2.4HRS

They also claim that service includes cleaning the throttle body, re-balence tires/wheel allignment, and visual inspection (not sure what they're "inspecting").

On top of that, they wanted us to have them replace the cabin air filter for $65+installation; the same part is available from Advance Auto for under $20 and I can replace myself.

Questions:
Ok, the oil makes sense (oil change) but what about the rest? I'm especially bothered by the "H00232-19007 Carburetor" because this engine is fuel-injected!!!

Also, I don't understand why the throttle body cleaning and allignment are "essential" because the car has been running great, not pulling or anything?!
Oh, and they had it in the garage for about an hour and a half if that helps -- although who knows how long they worked vs. drank coffee.

i swear if i had a dollar for everytime i heard that one, i recommend you tell them to do the gearbox oil if youve never done it number 1. of course engine oil. and to notify you of any low fluid levels. the only other mjor concern with these is the oxygen sensor. be warned if that expensive little bugger is left to make your car accelerate with a tickticktick in a straght uphil line and smoke!. youre up for a set of rings and a world of other costs later on biggest cause of permanent smoke on these is that stupid oxygen sensor
