to make a long story short my car has been sitting in my drive way for a little while due to it needs new brakes all around but the clutch worked great the day i parked it now that i have the parts to work on it i can push the clutch pedal all the way to the floor can't shift into gear while the car is running just grinds its like im pushing air and also i found out that i don't need to push the clutch in to start the car and it will shift into gear when the car is off

im going to have to say that if its a hydraulic clutch that A. you have air in the clutch line. B. you clutch master or slave cylinder is bad. or C. you dont have any fluid in the resivor and it is all leaked out on to either under your steering wheel or into the clutch area where the slave cylinder does the actual pushing of the throw out bearing in the tranmission. either way your tranny is probably now broken but i would not shift it into gear any more with the engine running.
