Are Goethe's scientific theories taken seriously by authorities? How is Goethe regarded in the scientific circles? Was Goethe merely arrogant to challenge "this Newton" or was he right? As for me, I personally tend to accept Goethe's science as brilliant and a legitimate competitor to anything other scientists have produced; even though it is profoundly unfashionable to criticise other academics here and now in a university.
